Up-grading six properties in Mill Street
These eight Victorian cottages have deteriorated
over the years because of their inadequate construction. Two have been refurbished
but six still need damp-proofing and rewiring. Kitchens have aged and bathrooms
no longer meet government standards or the needs of residents who can be
both elderly and infirm.
A substantial, rolling restoration programme is under way to provide the
remaining six almshouses with damp-proofing, safe electrics and modern,
user-friendly kitchens and bathrooms.
